Pelargonium Graveolens "Citronella Plant"
Also known as Scented Geranium or Mosquito plant, Citronella plants has a strong lemony fragrance. When rubbed against the skin, leaves may help repel mosquitoes and other insects. They do well indoors or outdoors and are grown as annuals in zones 9 and below. They are easy to care for and being a member of the geranium family has beautiful flowers which are pink.
They are also used as a culinary herb and flavoring for cakes, butters, jellies, ice cream and other dishes. The leaves are also dried as potpourri. In certain parts of Africa they have been used to treat intestinal, kidney, respiratory issues, wounds, fevers and other health conditions. The oil is also used as a relaxant in aromatherapy due to their citrus fragrance that promotes positivity and improved mood.
